Database Search

You are in the database section of the website.

Select a record category from RECORDS above. When you have selected a category, you will see search options for that category above the record list.

Most fields require at least three characters. When you submit your query, the search engine will return all records that contain your search term.

Note that when searching for an aircraft serial number, you must enter the full serial number without the leading "4" and without a dash in the Aircraft SN search field. For example, you would enter 42-37772 as 237772.

The Personnel name field searches both last and first names, so if you enter the search term, "Russ", the search engine will return both Russell Abel and James Russell.

You narrow the search by entering more characters into the search field. For example, "Russ" returns many hits. "Russell" returns fewer hits. The same principle applies to all queries.

The POW and KIA categories are list only and are not searchable.

Hi Rodney...
Well, after going over my records for info on your dadscrew (1st Lt. NORBERT C.ETZEL)Here's what I have...As I mentioned to you already, your dads crew arrivedat Thorpe Abbotts the SAME day as mine (GRIS SMITH)..The 2nd Lt.(then)ETZEL crew were transferred from 69thHq. 70th Reinforcement Depot on 10 MAY 1945 your dadscrew were Cr33 (APO 19047 CA33) which was used as their mailing address also...the SMITH crew wereCr22(APO 19047 CA22)...Your dad was the only MOS # (612) on the crew,so I SUSPECT he had some armorers training, like my dad who was the only 612 on their 9-man crew...As you already known he was THE waist gunner (only oneon the 9 man aircrew this late in war...There was ashortage of aerial gunners also...Your dads crew (and mine) BOTH arrived at ThorpeAbbotts on 14 MARCH 1945...Who knows MAYBE on the SAME night train to ThorpeAbbotts(Diss station) that arrived in the earlymorning hours...My dads crew had to STAND in thepacked train for the two hour trip...Yours probablydid also...Rodney,I SUSPECT your dads crew flew MOST(not all)ofthe SAME missions as my dads crew..(I will send you bye-mail a listing of their missions that I have info onso you can get an idea of what your dads crew were on).
