Crash: Aircraft was hit by a falling bomb from the High Squadron. The bomb embedded in the tail compartment and, although not exploding, severely wounded the TG and trapped him at his station. Lt Burdette Williams returned the damaged A/C to the base. Here the 100th popular Flight Surgeon, Captain Emory C. "Doc" Kinder, waged a valiant campaign to free Cohen. Kinder was able to free him from the live bomb, but his injuries were such that he did not survive.
