Crew Notes
Evaded Status of the crew with the exception of the Pilot and Co-pilot was determined by Jan Riddling, 100th Group Historian. (pw) Lt Smith in A/C #997 was hit by enemy fighters and side-slipped out of formation at 1345 hours. Fire was observed behind the pilots seat and in the radio compartment. One chute was seen before it disappeared into the undercast near 4906 N - 0432 E. Witness: S/Sgt Raymond J. Scheier
