Crash: This crew has been listed in most histories as having bailed out, this was not the case. Lt Wolff excuted what is considered a classic example of ditching a heavy aircraft. There were no injuries and the entire crew egressed the aircraft without a hitch. They were immediately rescued by a French fishing boat. Unfortunately the French fishing vessel was followed by a German Patrol craft which ordered the French Captain to return to port, and Wolff and his crew were taken prisoner.
