Mission Summary
ON THIS DAY…August 14,1943
The 100BG flew a diversionary mission on August 14. S-2 Officer, Red Bowman recorded upon their return, “Group ran a beautiful milk run today. Purely a trick mission, designed to pull fighters so that P-47s could get at them. Planes flew 20 to 30 miles off the Belgian coast, then returned. No bombs carried. The boys really enjoyed this one - no flak, no fighters, nothing to worry about. Wish all their trips could be as free from care.”
