Biographical Information on C.W. "Doc" Howison (courtesy of the Howison family)

When school was out I went to California and went to work for Lockheed Aircraft Corp, in Burbank, Never dreamed of making the money they started me at. Never really had any idea what living was about until that spring,

December 7, 1941 was a date the world remembers, I went in the Army Air Corp, on September 11, 1942, It was my 2lst birthday. I passed cadet exams in L.A. and went through bombardier training and was .commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and was sent to England as a bombardier on a Bl7, I was in the 8th Air Force, 100th Bomb Group. I was nearly
through pilot training as a student officer when the Japs surrendered in 1945, quit and went home, I flew 35 combat missions and bombed German, France, Belgium, and Poland, went to Berlin 4 times,

I was given credit for downing German fighters, and received a Distinguished Flying Cross and an Air Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters. I was promoted to 1st Lieutenant while in combat and later promoted to Captain in reserve, I did 3 1/2 years of active duty and stayed in reserve for about twelve more years,

Married on October 11, 1945 and stayed 25 years, raised two daughters and one son. two step sons. I have seven grandchildren, about eleven step grandchildren and several great step grandchildren. I was married a few more times, some times happy, some times not, Things smooth out when you're too old to fuss or do many other things, After my service time I worked in California and Kansas,
