Dear Mike,

I appreciate your efforts. Here is some more information from me.
I was a spare gunner transferred from the 388th bomb group to the
100th bomb group in late 1944. I flew my first mission with the 100th
bomb group in early January 1945 over Cologne, Germany. I came to
the 100th bomb group with four other volunteers from the 388th. Among
these four was Tech/Sgt Piepgras who was lost over Hamburg (actually lost over Buchen)
Germany. I remember the following crews - Calder's crew, Kallsarand's crew,
Baldwin's crew ( they were lost over the channel on April 3, 1945). I was a
friend of tech/sgt Turner who was killed over Brunswick, Germany (believe this to be
Cecil Baker from Thrasher Crew). He was a tailgunner. The last colonel of the group I remember was Sutterlin.
I flew the following missions to cities - Cologne, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich,
Polenz (which was located in the far western German or Poland area) plus
other missions. Our last operations officer was a captain or Major Wooten.
I remember when Robert Rosenthal was CO of the 418th and he had a broken
arm when he flew a shuttle mission to the far western front.
I will send photos that I have and information via mail. What
is a good address to send these to?

Again, Mike, I can't thank you enough for all your assistance. This means a lot
to me.

Sincerely,
Joe

Dear Friends,
My name is Joe Perry and I was a tech/sgt. I don't recall my squadron but recall that my Lt. Colonel was Robert Rosenthal and remember Captain Evans. Would love to hear from anyone out there. I do recall, quite vividly, that I flew 26 missions as a gunner….Joe Perry
