SLY FOX info

Lt Hutchison Crew, 385th BG 550th BS, with Sly Fox in North Africa after Regensburg Mission on Aug 17, 1943. Plane was damaged on Aug 24, 1943 while taxing to take off position it went off Steel Matted perimeter and another B-17 rolled into it, cutting off its Tail Fin. A/C was left in North Africa, repaired by taking tail fin off another damaged B-17. She was flown back to England and assigned to the 100th Bomb Group and assigned to 418th BS.

This crew was eventually shot down on 21 Feb 44, but in 42-31370,.Sleepytime Gal II.
After August 43, the 385th chrisened another B-17, 42-31866, as Sly Fox II. It's nose art copied the original. Pic attached. This Sly Fox II crashlanded in Switzerland with the Downs crew 13 April 44, MACR 3771.
