Crash: Crashed in the vicinity of Oberwiesenthal, Germany. Had been attacked by enemy fighters and attempted an emergency landing. The landing was unsuccessful and eight of the nine man crew were killed. The Germans reported that S/Sgt William D. Ebbert was buried in the Cemetery at Oberwiesenthal. They had no burial data for the remaining KIAs. After the war casualties in that area were exhumed and taken to Ardennes for internment as Unknowns in Plot HH-4-95/100 and II-4-76/82. They could not be identified individually and were buried in a Common Grave in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, T. Louis, Missouri - Plot 78/957/961 under Group Burial 1260/570 on February 27th, 1950. Kt. Joseph E, Kitto and S/Sgt Perry L. Olson were recovered November 18th, 1952 at Hammer-Wiesenthal, apparently at the crash site, (paul west)
