Target: Bohlen synthetic oil plant near Leipzig, Germany
Base: Thorpe Abbotts, Norfolk, England
Crash: Some seventy miles inside Germany on the return the pilot advised that he had only forty gallons of fuel remaining. The Group Leader advised him to land at Eindhoven Airfield, Holland. Apparently the aircraft's fuel supply was exhausted before reaching Eindhoven and 531 crashed about 45 km west of Eindhoven. SSgt Broussard was killed in the air by flak and SSgt Gunn was killed in the crash. Both were initially interred in the R.C. Cemetery at Rijsbergen - moved to Netherlands February 18th, 1946.
