Casualty Report from September 11, 1944
Detail
MACR: 99929
Target: Ruhland, Germany
Base: Thorpe Abbotts, Norfolk, England
Crash: Returned to Thorpe Abbotts with Casualty aboard. S/Sgt Emerson was killed September 11th, 1944 during fighter attacks. This information was received by James R. Brown (100th Senior Historian and a 100th veteran) from the BTG on the crew, Donald J. Farley in 1983. The ABMC Registers show that Emerson died September 30th, 1944 from his wounds of September 11th, 1944. This seems to be correct because Emerson was buried beside PFC Sheppard of the 351st who died September 28th, 1944. It is accepted that he succumbed from wounds received September 11th, 1944 at Ruhland, Germany. (paul west)
