Irving Wasserman, 93, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. He was the beloved husband for 52 years, of the late Marie (Weinberg) Wasserman. Born in Hartford, he was the son of Samuel and Ida Wasserman. He leaves a daughter Anne Wasserman of Boston, MA and a son, Robert Wasserman and his wife Linda of Port Angeles, WA and three cherished grandchildren, Leah, Ben, and Tamara (FLA). He is survived by his sister, Edith Meister of Miami, FLA and his brother Leonard Wasserman of West Hartford and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Wasserman attended Weaver High School and Hilliard College, University of Hartford. He served in the Army during WWII as a Sergeant and member of the 8th Army Air Force - European Theater, East Anglia, Britain in the 3rd Bomb Division - 100th Bomb Group and finished with the 436th Fighter Squadron. He was a very proud 63 year member of Sequin-Level Lodge 140 A.F. and A.M. He was a long time contributor to the Red Cross Blood Bank as well as to numerous local and national charities. Mr. Wasserman was a founding member and the first President of Congregation Beth Ahm in Windsor. The funeral will be graveside on Friday February 28, with full military honors, at 11:00AM with Rabbi Alan Lefkowitz officiating at the Brahilover Cemetery off of Tower Ave., on the corner of Garden St. and Cleveland Ave., extension, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Congregation Beth Ahm, 362 Palisado Ave., Windsor, Ct., 06095 or to a charity of donor's choice. Following interment, the family will receive friends for a meal of consolation and further reflections on Irving's life at the Beth Ahm synagogue and Irving will be honored by the Masonic Order.
