      Nice to hear from members of the 100th BG.



      I will try to give you the information as best I can` I am afraid

that I never did know what the Hard Stand numbers were. You could

probably get that information from Earl. His A/C 413 was the first plane

in "C" Flight. The Flights started out with T/Sgt Cannon on the top of

the hill on the center part of the far side of the Perimeter track.After

Cannon's Plane the 418th started out, then the 35lst and the 349th.

Going back toward the tower 413 was first with Glen Myers as Crew

Chief(M/Sgt Myers) the next plane to Myers and on the same side of the

perimeter track  Was M/Sgt John Riffle. Next to Sgt Riffle was M/Sgt

Sokoloski(Formally a crew member of M/Sgt 's Myers crew)His plane was

tailed into the shooting-in-  Butts still on the same side of the

Perimeter track. Across from M/Sgt Sokoloski's Plane was M/Sgt Riley B

Dempsey's plane. He was an original member and the youngest mechanic in

the 350th. Next to Riley B. Dempsey was M/Sgt Satorris's Plane( spelling

may be Bad)` My other plane was located bac k around the perimeter track

on the inside of the track. I am not completely sure but I think his

name was M/Sgt Lynch. Next to Lynch's plane the "B"{ Flight started out

then the "A" Flight. If you counted backforward or forward you could

find out the Hard Stand Numbers.



      You may want to know the names of some of the original members.

Most of the original members started out with the 29th Bomb Group. At

that time we were stationed at Tampa Air Force Base in Tampa Florida.In

June or July 1942 the Group was transferred by train to Gowan Field in

Boise,Idaho. The 29th Group was a parent group. The first Group that

went out from them was the 91st Bomb Group, later stationed at

Bassingbourn England. The enlisted men that were asigned to the 100th in

October 1942 were. Bill Leyapoldt, Flight Chief "A" Flight,,Albert

Strain, Flight Chief "B" Flight and Robert C Everett Flight Chief "C"

Flight. Our Maintenance officer was Don Blazier.( Al Strain lives close

to you in No 2 Retirement Village.  Del Webb's there on the out skirts of

Phoenix.Glen Richardson went out as an Inspector,Lt Horace Varian was

the only officer that I remember being with us when we left Boise.I am

afraid that I can't remember any of the others.



      I haven't been on the B-17 since I left England, that was here I n

Vacaville this last summer. I had several months training on the B-17

until I made M'Sgt. The next AirPlane that I was on was the B-29, I flew

as Panel Engineer out of Guam. I was on several different Planes during

the next twenty years of my service, After the Air Force I went with the

Government as Tech Rep on the C-141 and then on the C-5 Air Craft.My

territory was the Military Air Lift Command in the Pacific. Retired from

the government in 1980`
