Personnel

Clerk Typest and musician.  Played Bass in "Century Bombers" along with Irv Waterbury.  I wanted to fly but I had a bad eye.  I felt ashamed to be a typest. We had a band called the Century Bombers.  Capt Williams was leader of the band, a good band too!



"We had two trumpets, three sax, a …….guitarist, I played bass and piano, a damn good drummer, a guitar who was always behind the beat, a guy who sang like Sinatra (Mike Landra)-the girls loved him"



Typed for Egan, then for Lt Col Kidd, etc at HQ.  I got busted for some reason but they gave me back my stirpes.  I went to london a lot and met lots of girls who loved to skate. I made lots of friends at the skating rink.  They turned the Royal Opera House into a Skating rink.  The girls were many, they wanted to tek me home with them but I had been warned about VD and stuff like that.  I was taught "Southern Baptist" to save myself for my wife if I ever got one.  I'm glad I did though.  I rode a bicycle most fo the time on the base. Col Kidd asked me one day to deliver a bag of mail over to the Camp (base) near us.  This was Horham, 3rd Air Div.  I checked out a jeep and took the bag of mail over there.  Our men had been taken over there until our Base was lengthen (believe this was late June 1944 when perimeter track and runways were being repaired…mpf 2002).
