Memo 1:
Floyd T. Bauman served as the 1st Sergeant for the 351st Bomb Squadron during 1944-1945. In a newspaper article from the summer of 1944, Bauman was quoted as saying "At the present, I'm proud to say that I am first sergeant of the best bombardment squadron in the ETO. Bar none! This is a darned good outfit with a fine record and I consider myself very fortunate to be in it."

-- 1st SGT (585) Floyd T Bauman, 16038469, is released from duty in & assignment to Hq Det 100th Bomb Gp, reassigned to 35lst Bomb Sq; & aptd 1st Sgt thereof.
July 1945 -- 1st Sergeant Floyd T. Bauman was put on orders to leave the Squadron and the Group, on the first leg of his homeward trek. His geniality, efficiency and general ability to get along well with the men was reflected in the fact that the entire Squadron was sorry to see Sgt. Bauman leave. His administrative excellence had earned for him a Certificate of Merit, and certificate clutched firmly in one hand, duffle bag in the other, he left with the well-wishes of every man.
