Dear Sir,
It is my sad duty to report to you the passing from this world of my
father, CAPT. Arthur L. Nelson, formerly of the 100th Bomb Group on the
twelfth of August, 2007. During the war dad was one of the "Mickeys", or
radar bombardiers. I am happy to say that he and my mother, Pat, as well as
myself we able to attend the dedication ceremony of the museum and restored
control tower at Thorpe Abbots together in the early 1980's, as I was
stationed just down the road at RAF Lakenheath as a young airman in the U.S.
Air Force. The years my dad spent at Thorpe were some of the most formative
ones of his life, and I think they made him a better person for the
experience.
