Memo 1:
Yes, I have a number of photos of Dad, his office,
etc. I'll scan them in. Dad was in "S-2"
(Intelligence, right?). He descrbed his job as mostly
writing profiles of crewmembers for their home town
papers. I know he wrote the book right after he
returned to the States (his parents lived in LA at
that time).

Mr. Faley:
I'd planned on selling perhaps 5 or 6. I'm holding on
to a few more for the grandkids.
My father was a life-long newspaperman. He worked in
Witchita, KS and Oklahoma City before the war. He
spent most of his career (1950-1980) with the San
Diego Evening Tribune. As I mentioned, he passed away
in 1999.
I've always been interested myself in the history of
the period. As you probably know, up in Dayton, OH at
the US Air Force Museum there is a recreation of an
8th AF Control Tower with a brick representing Thorpe
Abbott.
