One of last to join group in Boise, Idaho.  Nickname "Hank" and was Also Named "Bone Red" by Capt Mackesey, S-2 Administration officer, in charge of Maps. 



First Job "Mess Officer stateside with Col Alkire".  Agustus Farita was a cook and one Day Col Alkire came into the Mess,  there was a big paddle in the Stock Pot and Alkire said I smelled something good cooking, it turned out that Farita was boiling his long johns in the stock pot.  Went to OCS in Miamia, Class of 42-E with Clarke Gable, in Squadron I.  That is how he got his commission. He referred to CG as Gable, C  and Gable called him Ramsey H.   After Munster (Rosenthals 3rd mission), Rosie asked him if all the missions were this tough? Replaced Capt Tomey as Squadron Adj. 



Was assistant Operations officer because of all the losses for the 100th BG and the 418th BS. He flew 5 missions as a stowaway (never got credit).  Targets he flew too, Bremen twice, Cologne twice, and a No Ball.
