CREW



M/Sgt Gerald F. Warfield was the crew chief of the Messie Bessie", flown for the most part by the crew listed below. Warfield was 36 years old at the time -- an immensely popular member of the 418th, a  father figure to many of the 100th young airmen.

418th Sqdn.. Crew, as above, joined the 100th in June 1943, one of the first replacement crews to reach the 100th, it was proably the first replacement crew to complete a tour, according to Jim Brown.



 (Actually the first replacement crew to finish was the Cowboy Roane crew. Since Roane had been with the 100th in the states and in the 349th with Jim Brown, it is likely he did not consider his old squadron mate a  replacement)
