TAPS: JOHN C. WILLIAMS
A recent quadruple coronary by-pass seemed successful but he soon developed metastatic cancer of the pancreas and died August 31, 1993 in Groveland, Florida. At Thorpe Abbotts with a crew of 78, John supervised construction, operation, and maintenance of our telephone and teletype systems, cryptographic security office, and message center. We remember him best because he directed our big band, the "Century Bombers" using a magnificent sterling silver and black ebony baton presented to him by the members of the band. When he lived in New York, he and his wife, Helen were members of the "Eastern Seaboard Clique." who had frequent mini-reunions. "He loved his country and he loved the 100th." was her summation.
