Memo 1:
Vernon Gaffron was killed in a train crash near London on 16 January 1944. His loss came as a shock to the Squadron, as Gaffron had been a sheet metal worker with the 351st since the Group’s inception. His body was returned home for burial to Kenosha, Wisconsin, where his wife resided.
