Obituary of Jay M. Shriver
Jay M. Shriver passed away on Monday, July 16, 2001, in Tucson after a long illness.
Born in Jefferson, Iowa, on Nov. 69 1916, to Amos and Bethel Shriver, Jay is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie E. Shriver, and two children, Susan (Jim) Turner, and Jay (Karmen) Shriver; and six grandchildren.
Jay Shriver attended school in Jefferson, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1939. He was united in marriage to Margie E. Murphy in Fort Dodge, Iowa, in 1939. Dr. Shriver began his dental profession in Glidden, Iowa, before enlisting in the Air Force in 1942. He served with the 100th Bomb Group in England during World War II.
Dr. Shriver practiced dentistry in Glidden, Spencer, and in Okoboji, Iowa, before retiring in 1978. Jay and Margie divided their retirement years between summers at Lake Okoboji and winters at their home in Green Valley, Ariz.
