CREW
ORIGINAL 100TH. ASSIGNED OCTOBER 1942 AND SERVED OVERSEAS FROM JUNE 1943-JUNE 1945
"I made the second Russian Shuttle Mission in September 1944 to assume responsibilities for plane maintenance and refueling in Russia and Italy. Below is chart which is intended to describe the shuttle.
In May 1945, Major Revegno was transferred to Wing Hdqts and I was promoted to assume his responsibilities as Group Engineering Officer. As the War in Europe had ended in May 1945, I was sent back to the States in early June to take part in a secret project which was cancelled in July 1945. Thus, with the ending of the War in the Pacific, I chose to be seperated from the service and was placed on terminal leave until December. Thus my Army Air Corp active duty ended with three years and 9 months."

11- 20- 1918 ~ 05- 25- 2010WILLIAM DUNAWAY CLIFT, died peacefully in his sleep May 25.He grew-up in Winfield, Kansas, nurtured by loving parents, embraced by a large extended family. The strength of their Christian faith was the foundation of his life. He graduated in 1940 from Oklahoma A&M. He enlisted with the Army-Air Corps. As engineering officer with the 418th squadron, 100th Bomb Group based in Thorp-Abbots, England his sincerity and openness became a source of strength and guidance for his squadron. During wartime and throughout his life, his weekly letters to family showed his never-ending love. He returned to civilian and a successful and life-long career with Humble Oil. In Houston he married Evelyn Underwood and they were blessed with 3 children. With his sense of humor, open hand and warm smile, Bill developed life long friends while living around the world with Exxon and touched everyone with his generosity and kindness. His spirituality was exemplified by his devotion to Chapelwood and support for the A.D. Players Theater.Bill is survived by his: 2 brothers, 3 first cousins, wife Evelyn, 3 children, 6 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren.A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday June 19 at 1:00 pm, in the chapel at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, 77024.
