I am trying to find out about my Dad's airforce experience. He was stationed in Thorpe Abbotts and  I just found out he was a bomb site engineer. hIs name is James J. Potts, # 13046295 T43     B

Dog tag number. He served with some names I know from Christmas cards over the years and conversations and some pictures we have here. Don Secord, Elmer Most, Larry Bowa, Ed Ciminski, Andrew Pommer, Loyd Cresap and others I could look up if needed.

Any information you can shine of these guys who became lifetime friends and any ideas on how I can learn more about my Dad's experience there.  

My Dad lost his younger brother George while serving there and I can only imagine how he felt receiving the news his brother was MIA over Yugoslavia while being so far from home. My guess is the guys he served with were a big help to,him as he dealt with this news and a few months later hearing he lost his Dad and not being home to comfort his mother and say good bye to,his Father must have been overwhelming.

If you are able to point me I the right direction or know anything that would help it surely would be appreciated by me and my family. He spoke often of his times there but never told us what his job was just usually funny stories. 

I solved the issue of what happens with my Uncle after all these years and recently attended a reunion - memorial for his 449th group.  Everyone there kept asking me what my Dad did so thought I should get to the bottom of his story. 

All I know is he kept in touch with these guys over the years and so I knew some of the names.
