Hi Rodney...

Well,after going over my records for info on your dadscrew (1st Lt. NORBERT C.ETZEL)Here's what I have...As I mentioned to you already, your dads crew arrivedat Thorpe Abbotts the SAME day as mine (GRIS SMITH)..The 2nd Lt.(then)ETZEL crew were transferred from 69thHq. 70th Reinforcement Depot on 10 MAY 1945 your dads crew were Crew 33 (APO 19047 CA33) which was used as their mailing address also...the SMITH crew was Crew 22(APO 19047 CA22)...Your dad was the only MOS # (612) on the crew,so I SUSPECT he had some armorers training, like my dad who was the only 612 on their 9-man crew...As you already known he was THE waist gunner (only one on the 9 man aircrew this late in war...There was a shortage of aerial gunners also...Your dads crew (and mine) BOTH arrived at ThorpeAbbotts on 14 MARCH 1945...Who knows MAYBE on the SAME night train to Thorpe Abbotts(Diss station) that arrived in the early morning hours...My dads crew had to STAND in the packed train for the two hour trip...Yours probably did also...Rodney,I SUSPECT your dads crew flew MOST(not all)of the SAME missions as my dads crew..(I will send you bye-mail a listing of their missions that I have info onso you can get an idea of what your dads crew were on).

That's all I have to add except that  ETZEL was transferred from the 100th BG  to the 95th BG Station 119,on July 2,1945..He had accumulated  81 ASP "points", so I know were missing a few more missions,pprobably COMBAT for him....Regards, Jack O'Leary
