349th Sqdn.  Crew,as above,joined the 100th Group on 31/3/45. On 17/5/45 the crew was transferred to the 493rd Bomb Group at Debach.

 At time of transfer a Sgt L.A.Rowton was on the crew. Sgt Rowton was originally with the Group Armament office. Appears he became a qualified gunner and joine this crew as possible BTG.

Lawrence N. Hake, 88 of Camp Hill passed into eternal rest May 23, 2011. Mr. Hake was a graduate from John Harris High School and was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of West Fairview American Legion Post 984.

Surviving is his wife Katherine of 61 years, a daughter, Jayne Shaffer and her husband Michael, and son Joshua, of Duncannon, two sons; Stephen M. Hake and wife Tammy of Enola, Lawrence M. Hake of Enola, two grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hake served in WWII with the 8th U.S. Army Air Corps. B-17 Bloody 100th bomb group in 1945 as a communications radio/ship to shore operator and waist gunner in England. He received the Bronze Star and unit citations. In 1943, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as a sergeant until his discharge in 1946,
