Hello, I am the daughter of 1st. Lt. Charles R. Wayman, bombardier of "Fools Rush In" with the John Love crew. You had answered my uncle, Keith Wayman's, email regarding my father's awarding of the DFC and also had requested information regarding his 25 missions. Your email was forwarded to me and I am happy to provide the information you seek. Due to some recent moves and life occurences, I have not been as quick to respond to the excellent 100th bomb group website as I should have done. Now I hope to rectify that. I have in my possession my father's diary of his war-time experiences, as well as his log of the 25 missions he flew. Below is the list of his missions, per his log.
st: 03/11/43 Wilhelmshaven
nd: 07/11/43 Duren
rd: 13/11/43 Bremen
th: 19/11/43 (he did not identify a town, just wrote "Eastern border of Holland." assume Zutphen?
th: 26/11/43 Bremen

th: 30/11/43 Soligen
th: 11/12/43 Emden
th: 13/12/43 Kiel
th: 20/12/43 Bremen
th: 22/12/43 Munster
th: 24/12/43 only wrote "secret installation 20 miles into France." assume St. Joseph au Bois?
th: 30/12/43 Ludwigshaven
th: 14/01/44 just wrote "target in Northern France." assume Foret D' Hesdin?
th: 21/01/44 wrote "across channel into France." assume Bois D' Esquerdes?
th: 24/01/44 "25 minutes from Frankfurt...dropped our bombs in channel."
th: 03/02/44 Wilhelmshaven
th: 04/02/44 Frankfurt
th: 10/02/44 Brunswick
th: 13/02/44 Pas de Calais
st: 20/02/44 Stettin
nd: 21/02/44: wrote "airfields 40 mi Southeast of Bremen." assume Alhorn & Vorden?
rd: 24/02/44 wrote "flew practically within 40 miles of the target only to find it overcast. So we bombed on PFF supposedly Rostack."(sp? difficulty reading writing, may be Rostock.)
th: 25/02/44 wrote "We started out for Regensburg but got 155 miles inside enemy coast and lost #4 engine and had to abort."
th: 29/02/44 Brunswick
Hope this proves helpful. Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Candace Wayman Olson
