April 11, 1944, Target: Rostock, Flying A/C 42-37935 with the 95th Bomb Group out of Horham. MACR 3805, Crew was last seen with smoke coming from between #3 engine and the fuselage as well as #2 Engine on fire. A/C "peeled away" from the formation under control and crashed at BAd Dorkran with 7-KIA and 3-POW.. Rough mission for the 95th BG, they lost 7 planes that day with 37 KIA and 33 POW
JOHN J. NOVAK : John J. Novak, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the Bayonne Medical Center. John was born in Bayonne and lived there lifelong. He worked as a Fireman for the Bayonne Fire Department for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a Tech Sergeant, and was held a POW for 18 months in Germany. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America and the FMBA, Exempt Association. He is the beloved of Genevieve (Cassidy); cherished brother of Vincent Novak, Margaret Grosso, and the late Joseph Novak and Emery Novak. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Viewing on Sunday, June 26, from 2:00 - 4:00 and and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the G. Keenen O'Brien Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Henry's Church; Interment to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. G.
