Obituary for Joseph B. Schwab

Joseph B. Schwab, 96, of North Olmsted, passed away December 18, 2015.

He was born in Albany, NY, the son of the late William and Mary (nee Schilling). He enlisted with the US Army in April of 1942 during WWII and was an Aerial Gunner. A member of 351st Bombardment Squadron 100th Bombardment Group, he was present for 5 of 6 missions of Operation Chowhound Mercy Mission to Holland with the John D. McGeorge crew. He received the American Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. 

Following his honorable discharge in March of ’46, he moved to Ohio where 3 of his crew were from, and settled in Cleveland where he began working at the Statler Hotel as an ice sculptor. He then went to work for Warner and Swasey where he dedicated 33 years as a machinist. 

Beloved husband of Edith (nee Forrer); dear father of Joseph A.; loving brother of eight siblings who predeceased him; cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
