Veterans of the 100th Bomb Group took part in a dedication ceremony to unveil a memorial plaque at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in Jun 1986

In 1997, several 100th Bomb Group veterans gathered in Texas to go through 100th Bomb Group photos and other historical documents. Several veterans were on hand including Butch Goodwin, John Luckadoo, Dewey Christopher, Grant Fuller, Cowboy Roane, Hong Kong Wilson, and others.

Joseph A. Carty 100th Bomb Group 350th Bomb Squadron Thorpe Abbotts, England Joseph A. Carty - Bombardier - stationed at Thorpe Abbotts from late February 1944 through early August 1944. Carty completed 35 missions including the first several daylight strikes on Berlin flown March 4th, 6th, and the 8th of 1944. We lost an incredible man today - Frank "Bud" Buschmeier. Bud flew as a Waist Gunner on the John Gibbons crew, and became a POW when his B-17 went down over Merseberg on 29 July 1944. Bud was an active attendee at 100th Bomb Group Foundation reunions, along with his wonderful family, and he is also a former president of the 100th Bomb Group Association. Bud gave several interviews over the years about his war-time service, and he proudly carried on the legacy of the Bloody Hundredth. He was a family man, a patriot, and a member of the greatest generation. Here is a small tribute to Bud....Matt Mabe

Published on Feb 9, 2018This is an interview of my Grandfather Ernest E. Warsaw Dec.14th 1920 - May 19th 2012. Navigator of the "Picklepuss" B-17. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Core as a cadet in December 1941, graduated as 2nd Lieutenant in October 1942 and joined the 100th Bomb Group. He flew 13 combat missions with the 8th Air Force and was shot down on August 17, 1943. He was a POW in Germany for two years. He talks about the day he was shot down and some of his POW stories. The interview was conducted at his factory, Sheffield Furniture Corp. in Los Angeles, CA , October 29th 1998 by the USC Shoah Foundation.

Impromptu moment with WWII aviator Paul E. Calkin, age 93, recounting a bombing mission that ended with his B-17 from the famed 100th Bomb Group (aka "The Bloody Hundredth") crashing into the frigid English Channel on February 26, 1944. The interview took place on Veterans Day 2017 at Conway, Ark., just before Mr. Calkin took a courtesy flight aboard the EAA's B-17 Aluminum Overcast. It was his first time to fly on a "Flying Fortress" since the war ended.
