Lawrence "Larry" Doucet 

Obituary



John 11:25- Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. Lawrence "Larry" Doucet, 89, of Fordoche, Louisiana passed away of natural causes on February 22, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones and friends. He was born February 13, 1926, in Port Barre, Louisiana, the oldest of 12 children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Euclid Sr. and Lena Thibodeaux Doucet, and 8 siblilngs, Eula, Norman, Howard, Stella (Soileau), Euclid Jr., Eugene, Clarence and Nelson Doucet. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Joyce Doucet nee Smith, and 3 children, Tanna Doucet, Deadra Bourke and husband David, and Patrick Doucet. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Joshua Sonnier and fiance' Nikki, and Kaylie Disotell and husband John, and 7 great-grandchildren. Larry is also survived by 3 siblings, Mildred Soileau, Richard Doucet and Kenneth Doucet, Sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the Army Air Force in WW II in the 8th Air Force, 3rd Divisional 13th Air Wing, 100th Bombardment Group, 418th Squadron, and received a Bronze Star, Larry went to work for the Louisiana Department of Highways, from which he retired as the Chief Construction Engineer after 35 years of service. After his retirement, Larry worked part-time for the Pointe Coupee Police Jury. He was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Catherine Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Larry had a joie de vivre. He loved visiting with family and friends, hunting and fishing, tending his garden and especially playing with his great grandchildren. Visiting will be held at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Fordoche on Tuesday February 24, 2015 from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial in the church at 2 pm. Entombment in St. Francis Cabrini Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Children's Miracle Network in Baton Rouge.
