Died postwar on October 5, 2005
Robert is entombed at St Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon, MI.
Robert was on his 15th mission when his B-17 was hit by flak and the crew was forced to bail out. He was captured and spent the remainder of the war as a POW at Stalag Luft III and Stalag Luft 7A. He was liberated by General George Patton’s 3rd Army on April 26, 1945.

EYEWITNESS: "A/C #127 received a direct flak hit just behind the No #3 engine while over the target. The A/C peeled off on it's right wing, slipping down 2,000 feet. One chute came out. Plane then started a controlled glide and six more chutes came out. A/C seen to explode before hitting the ground." Author is unknow..pw
Wilbur Dishneau appears to have been killed by flak in the Ball Turret. Jack Moore and Monroe T. Whidby were standing by the front escape hatch and were blown out when the ship exploded. Lt Moore suffered a broken leg, whether in the explosion or upon hitting the ground is unknown.
