William Wilson shared his photo to the group: WW2 100th Bomb Group.
Picture of my Dad, William R. Wilson on the left and his brother, Fred D. Wilson, about this time 70 years ago.
Dad completed 25 missions on 29 February, 1944 with the 100th Bomb Group, 418th squadron and was discharged September 7, 1945.
Uncle Fred completed 51 missions (several were counted as 2 missions) flying out of Stornaro, Italy with the 15th AF, 456th Bomb Group, 746th squadron on 12 September 1944. Don't have his discharge date, but he spent several years in the AF reserve after the war.
I thought it interesting that the Wilson Brothers had the exact same job, TTE, with the exception that Dad was in B-17s, and Uncle Fred in B-24s. I can still remember lively "discussions" on the merits and shortcomings of their respective aircraft.
