(2nd Lt. Ferrel Mason, 350th Sqdn). Bombardier on Lt Eden Jones Crew

Early in his POW captivity in Stalag Luft III , the YMCA supplied my uncle , Lt Col Ralph Saltsman, with a blank journal book presumably to fill with whatever. I now have the book that he carried out through the winter march in 1945 and over time have come to appreciate the value he must have placed on its contents. MOTA gave me a reason to go through the journal again and I discovered why he valued it enough hold on to it over the ordeal of the forced march and train: The first ten pages list the names, home addresses, mission and date of capture of fellow Kreggies - as written by the individuals themselves. On page 6 is this entry for fellow prisoner Gale Cleven - now immortalized by MOTA book and film! Wow
