Lead PFF aircraft with Capt Kincannon and Maj Magee Fuller taking off on July 20, 1944 Flak hit between the No. 2 engine and the fuselage on the bomb run. The propellers on the left side both ran away but there was no fire. The aircraft left the formation and returned with escorts from the 361st Fighter Group. 564 made an emergency landing about 10 km southeast of Breda, Holland. The crews successfully set the aircraft afire. This B-17 was not a 100th aircraft and was on detached service from the 95th, a sister group of the 100th also in the 13th Combat Wing.
