While scanning some of Gris Smith's album photos, I'm attaching one Gris claimed was taken from his ship on a DP-POW mission from Linz,Austria. I checked the formation sheets,very possible it was from his 3 June,1945 DP-POW Ferry Mission, I believe this is PFF 44-8545 XR-V with pilot John Archer aboard. This aircraft flew with the 303rd BG, 427thBS GN-X until mid-May 1945 when it was transferred to the 100th BG, assigned Hardstand 21 , replacing 681 XR-V and moved to HS # 24 on 12 June,1945. I blew up the photo to 7 MG's for detail, can clearly see the aircraft under the Tower. I thought Paul Valentine took this photo from his ship,still possible Gris Smith and Weiland Crew were right next to each other on the 3 June,1945 mission....Jack O’Leary
