Hello to my 100thBG family. You've likely never seen this before; an original "Randie Lou" A-2 jacket belonging to Alan Bruns, son of Delbert Bruns (WG) [Randall Chadwick's crew] [February-July 1944]. Allow me to tell you a quick story....Earlier this year, I was finalizing my research of my grandpa's, Joseph Carty (BOM), 100thBG experience. I kicked over every stone, peered behind every curtain, but I decided to throw one last hail mary. In 2002, Alan Bruns wrote my grandfather a letter asking for pictures of the Randie Lou and crew. He was researching his dad's 100thBG experience at that time. My grandpa kept that letter in his military binder, etc. Fast forward to 2020. There was no phone number, but I had an 18 year old out-of-state address. I scanned/printed out that letter, and wrote a response to Alan. I had no idea he would still be at that address, but I took a chance. HE WAS! We connected and traded pictures, documents, and treasures. He's given me permission to share with the group. He has Delbert's "Randie Lou" A-2 jacket, a large 4x5 ft "Randie Lou" painting in his shop, and the 35 mission diary his father snuck out of Thorpe Abbotts stuffed inside a Camel cigarette pack to pass inspection. It was as if I struck gold to read firsthand accounts of my grandfather's missions with several entries mentioning him by name. I took the pleasure in transcribing/typing out the diary and sent it back to Alan. He was blown away someone took the time to read his dad's words, and he shared with his boys...David Gibson
