Landing at Thorpe Abbotts
My best shot on this is, yes 349th hard stands.photograph is taken looking NE, from I think HS 24, that's the loop opposite the double spectacle on the east side of the taxi way. The Nissan Hut to the left of the guys is to the right of the entrance to HS 17, the barn between the two guys on the left, was right behind the hardstand. The two cottages to left of photo are across mill road, opposite HS 14.
The farm to the right of photo, is mill farm, the 17s are on the double loops. Photo collection of Frank Seibert

Snowman on 349th HS
The 100th BG heading out over the English Channel, having formed in the very early hours. The aircraft are forming through a pocket of dense overcast with the light bursting through from behind it. The date of the image is currently unknown, but the expansion of the formation's contrails, and light are such as I have never seen in a wartime photograph before.
You could swear it was divine light trying to protect them all!

Frank S. Seibert photo of Bicycles at Thorpe Abbotts. Great photos, first one I am sure is site 4,350th ,Frank's living area. Second is by the unlisted men's mess hall, there were bikes laying around everywhere at food times. What happened to all these bikes, well from what we have learned most of them were crushed by running a bulldozer over them, and then buried.i expect a few were spirited away by some of the locals....Carol and Ron Batley.
