Donald’s brother Capt. Carl W. Stuke died in Tunisia on April 7, 1943 and the bodies of the two repatriated brothers were buried at Golden Gate on the same day.

The aircraft was lost in a mid-air collision with the A/C (#42-39830) flown by Lt Paul A. Martin of the 350th Sqdn. The entire nose section of the Stuke A/C plus both left engines were torn off in the collision.
